Easton Media Index

Easton developed the Easton Media Index, an industry that has increasingly converged with information and software. Our rankings are based on market back research, financial analyses, and competitive evaluations, all related to the position and performance dimensions used in the Easton Information Index.

Easton selected a representative sample of 84 firms who derived the bulk of their revenues and profits from several segments including broadcast (television, radio, cable), telecommunications, motion pictures, music and advertising. We did not include gaming, theme parks and recreation segments which provide entertainment but with a significant hospitality component.

The Easton Media Index shows very substantial variation in historical performance and recent results among the companies. Will these variations continue in the future? We will be tracking the performance of this new media index as well as the information and software indexes. Our expectation is that the structure we use to evaluate or help develop strategies will prove useful here as well.
